Qilin is regarded as a symbol of peace and tranquility. In ancient legends, Qilin is often depicted as a divine beast capable of resolving conflicts and bringing peace, embodying people's aspiration for a peaceful and stable life. Furthermore, according to the Five Elements Theory, Qilin is divided into five types corresponding to metal, wood, water, fire and earth. Each type of Qilin carries its own unique implication and symbolic meaning. For instance, the Metal Qilin signifies brightness, nobility, treasure attraction and evil dispelling; the Wood Qilin symbolizes promotion and wealth; the Water Qilin represents attracting wealth and longevity; the Fire Qilin stands for blessing and bestowing children; the Earth Qilin features the functions of balancing Yin and Yang, subduing demons and protecting the Dharma.
